In a significant move toward reshaping how the next generation engages with emerging technologies, the White House recently issued an executive order titled “Advancing Artificial Intelligence Education for American Youth.” We’re living in a world where AI is already shaping everything. Yet so many students (and educators) have had little to no access to meaningful AI education. Use of AI in schools, the order states, “demystifies this powerful technology but also sparks curiosity and creativity, preparing students to become active and responsible participants in the workforce of the future and nurturing the next generation of American AI innovators to propel our nation to new heights of scientific and economic achievement.”
A Policy Shift with Nationwide Implications
This executive order signals a new chapter in American education policy. It sets in motion efforts to integrate foundational AI in the classroom, build stronger connections between schools, industry, and higher education, and invest in teacher training. The goal: equip students with the skills to understand, use, and develop AI technologies—whether they pursue careers in technology or apply AI in other fields like healthcare, law, marketing, or creative industries.
The Road Ahead: Preparing Classrooms, Teachers, and Communities
Here’s what’s happening:
- The President is directing the Department of Education to launch an AI education focused on creating innovative, inclusive AI resources and curriculum for K–12.
- To provide resources for K-12 AI education, agencies represented on the Task Force shall seek to establish public-private partnerships.
- Within 90 days of the date of this order, the Task Force shall establish plans for a Presidential Artificial Intelligence Challenge.
- Within 120 days of the date of this order, the Director of the National Science Foundation shall take steps to prioritize research on the use of AI in education.
How LocoRobo Can Support Schools and Educators
LocoRobo has developed AI education pathways designed to prepare students for an AI-driven world. Our AI courses for K-12 are designed to be classroom-ready, flexible, and accessible to students across all backgrounds, not just those traditionally focused on STEM.
We offer foundational AI courses that align with the goals outlined in the executive order:
- Intro to AI Concepts
Students learn the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, neural networks, and machine learning, and explore real-world AI applications across industries from healthcare to creative media.
- Intro to AI Tools
This hands-on course introduces students to the AI technologies shaping the world around them—chatbots, video, and image generation, data visualization tools, and more, while prompting discussion around ethical use and real-world impact.
- Intro to Prompt Engineering
Designed to teach students how to work effectively with generative AI, this course focuses on crafting high-quality inputs to guide AI models in producing accurate, ethical, and creative outputs.
Each course is project-based and designed to build digital literacy, critical thinking, and responsible innovation skills, ensuring students are more than just consumers of AI.
Getting Started: Assessing Your Readiness
We know the transition to AI-integrated classrooms won’t happen overnight. That’s why we’ve created a free AI Readiness Assessment to help schools and educators evaluate where they stand, what gaps exist, and how to take the next steps.
